Day's End -- Life Guard Stand in Malibu

This original painting was done while sitting at the beach in Malibu. It was at the end of the day... a beautiful day .. and the night sky was just starting to roll in. The painting is done on watercolor board. I first painted the stand in watercolor and then did a pastel overpainting. The finished size is 6" x 10"

Beach...the Wild Side

This was painted in lovely Santa Barbara in August after going whale watching.  The painting is of the wild side because that is how the ocean was at the Channel Islands.
The size is 10 1/4" x 7 1/8" .

Koi at Play by Diane Bronstein

This was done at a KOI Pond in Laguna Beach -- the fish are hard to paint since they are so active, So I take several photos and paint from them. Most of my work is done on site so that I can get a better feel for the subject, but with these beautiful creatures this is the only way I can paint them.

"Imagine" New York City - John Lennon's Memorial by Diane Bronstein

This photo was taken in Central Park at Strawberry Fields -- the memorial to John Lennon. There are always people gathered around and flowers strewn accross this memorial... I don't think there has ever been a time I have visited NYC without stoping by this spot. The message becomes even more important as time passes.

Dream Sailing

GOLDEN SAILS #2

I learned to sail when I was 7 on Lake Decatur in Illinois. When you on a sailboat you feel relaxed and free. This painting however was done from the shore of San Diego. Everynight before sunset hundreds of sailboats go into the harbor and enjoy the sunset. Golden Sails #2 is a watercolor which captures the intense color of the Pacific Ocean and the Sailboats as they change. I am going to be driving up the coast from LA to Santa Barbara over the next few days-- more paintings to come soon. The painting is done on watercolor paper and is 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" .
